Author’s Story
When I was eleven, my dad took us to Shetland and told me the story of our great-great-grandparents. “What a book that would be!” I thought.
Then I grew up, studied international relations, German, and French; married; and went to grad school. I taught English and served in the Peace Corps on the island of Moen, in Chuk, Micronesia. Then back in the San Francisco Bay Area I raised a family and taught school.
After the sudden death of my first child, I studied to become a minister. While serving churches, the story of my great-great-grandmother kept haunting me.
I retired from full-time ministry to write. And…Shetland Mist is what resulted: a story of hardship, faith, and resilience.
